The aim of the workshop was to show the possibilities of the technique of tile vaulting. It was attended by staff and students of Oxford University and by engineers from the Arup design consultants, London.

The practical work was complemented with theoretical lectures about the history of tile vaults and their structural behaviour.

During the workshop some arches and a vault were built and tested.
